A longtime resident of Independence and Sugar Creek, Mike has dedicated his life to service, family, and making sure the needs of our communities are met.

That work isn’t always easy - especially in a changing world, where decisions are complex and people don’t always agree. Mike has a record of bringing people together and getting support in Jefferson City for things that matter in our district.  He works year-round, meeting with citizens, school leaders, business owners and organizations serving our district.

This is the kind of real-life listening and experienced leadership we need to navigate change in the years ahead.

Learn more about Mike and the issues he is working on to help District 20 thrive.  And vote Mike Steinmeyer November 3rd.

MEET MIKE STEINMEYER

Mike Steinmeyer is a Jackson County native and proud graduate of William Chrisman High School. He and his wife, Kana, are blessed with three children and three grandchildren.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Mike learned early the importance of service, duty, and defending the Constitution. Those principles have guided his work in public service and continue to shape his leadership today.

Before serving in the Missouri House of Representatives, Mike served on the Independence City Council, where he gained firsthand experience in local government, public safety, infrastructure, utilities, and the daily concerns of working families and small business owners.

Mike believes good government must be strategic, sensible, accountable, and focused on results. His approach is rooted in statesman leadership, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to serving the people of Sugar Creek, Independence, and the State of Missouri with integrity and purpose.

Mike is running as a Republican to keep progress going as State Representative for Missouri House District 20. With an impressive background in humanitarian work, he has brought his experience to committees like Local Government, Utilities, and as Chairman of a Budget Sub-Committee. Having spent 15 years working across 26 countries, he understands the complexities of government and the importance of serving Missourians every day. Mike has also worked in the real estate industry, and with this diverse experience, he is committed to putting people before politics.
